چکیده
ABSTRACT We present a simple regulator-type framework designed specifically for modelling formation of dwarf galaxies. Despite its simplicity, when coupled with realistic mass accretion histories haloes from simulations and reasonable choices model parameter values, the can reproduce remarkably broad range observed properties galaxies over seven orders magnitude in stellar mass. In particular, we show that simultaneously match observational constraints on mass–halo relation, as well relations between gas phase metallicities, mass, size, star rate, general form diversity The thus be used to predict photometric hosted by dark matter N-body simulations, such colours, surface brightnesses, mass-to-light ratios forward observations examples colours brightness distributions are good agreement dwarfs recent surveys. also contrast common assumption, absolute magnitude–halo relation is generally predicted have non-power law regime, fraction host detectable ultra-faint sensitive reionization redshift (zrei) consistent zrei ? 9.

Giant Halos in Dwarf Irregular Galaxies vs. Dwarf Elliptical Galaxies
We present a discovery of a giant stellar halo in NGC 6822, a dwarf irregular galaxy in the Local Group. This halo is mostly made of old red giants, showing striking features: 1) it is several times larger than the main body of the galaxy seen in the optical images, and 2) it is elongated in the direction almost perpendicular to the HI disk of NGC 6822. The structure of this stellar halo looks ...
متن کاملSubstructure in Dwarf Galaxies
Recent years have seen a series of large-scale photometric surveys with the aim of detecting substructure in nearby dwarf galaxies. Some of these objects display a varying distribution of each stellar population, reflecting their star formation histories. Also, dwarf galaxies are dominated by dark matter, therefore luminous substructure may represent a perturbation in the underlying dark materi...
متن کاملDwarf Elliptical Galaxies
Dwarf elliptical (dE) galaxies, with blue absolute magnitudes typically fainter thanMB = 16, are the most numerous type of galaxy in the nearby universe. Tremendous advances have been made over the past several years in delineating the properties of both Local Group satellite dE's and the large dE populations of nearby clusters. We review some of these advances, with particular attention to how...
متن کاملDwarf Irregular Galaxies ? Liese
New observations of 16 dwarf elliptical galaxies in the Virgo Cluster indicate that at least seven dEs have significant velocity gradients along their optical major axis, with typical rotation amplitudes of 20-30 km s. Of the remaining nine galaxies in this sample, 6 have velocity gradients less than 20 km skpc while the other 3 observations had too low of a signal–to–noise ratio to determine a...
